Scottish Child Payment

What is Scottish Child Payment? It’s a new payment for families on certain benefits or tax credits to help towards the costs of looking after a child. It’s £40 paid every four weeks for each child under six.  The Scottish Government is taking applications from November 2020 with payments beginning in February 2021. Children aged 6 and over will be allocated a Bridging Payment, paid directly into the parents/carers account if the child is in receipt of free school meals.  Payments will be made quarterly at £130 per child.  There are no caps applied with regard to numbers of children.
